The circum-galactic medium (CGM) and inter-galactic medium (IGM) contain the vast majority of the baryons. The CGM and IGM are both difficult to observe directly owing to their low densities, but their presence can easily be detected with background quasars.
In 2023, we are entering a new era with a large number of surveys with wide field IFUs (MUSE,KCWI) and numerous multi-object spectrographs (4MOST, WEAVE-QSO, DESI, etc.) which will bring enormous samples of quasars. This year correspond also to the end of the ANR 3DGasFlows and the start of new ANR funded projects using targeting background QSOs (Hz-3D-MAP; WEAVEQSO).
Specifically, a the moment when these new observational campaigns are starting, this workshop aims at bringing experts in observations and simulators in order to discuss the latest results and forster new synergies.
The workshop will take place over 2 days, on May 15 & 16 2023 at CRAL (St Genis Laval) accessible with MetroB from Lyon.
The workshop is limited to 40 persons in persons (Remote participants will be possible).
